Manal Youssef-Bessler, MD

Manal Youssef-Bessler, MD, the founder of the Infectious Disease Center of New Jersey, attended Cairo University Faculty of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry- New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Bessler is Board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. She is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America, Infectious Disease Society of New Jersey.

Dr. Bessler has received several honors and awards including the Saint Barnabas Medical Center Physician Excellence in Healthcare award and Most Outstanding Subspecialist of the Year as well as patient choice awards in several consecutive years. In addition, she has received nominations as a Top Infectious Diseases Doctor from  Castle Connolly, NJ Monthly, Inside Jersey and New York Magazine for many consecutive years.

Dr. Bessler is affiliated with the Wound and Burn Healing Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center.

Her areas of interest include the management of severe sepsis and septic shock, diagnosis and management of fever of unknown origin, pulmonary and intra-abdominal infections, diabetic wound infections and diabetic wounds management, tick-borne diseases, HIV care, Hepatitis B infection and Infection Control.
